Fluidra reinforces its leading position in Olympic pools with contracts in Asia and South America worth close to €10Mn

Fluidra, a multinational listed on the Spanish stock exchange focused on developing innovative services, products and IoT solutions for the global residential and commercial pool market, has reinforced its leadership position in the field of Olympic pools after signing four contracts worth nearly €10Mn in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Peru.

The group, which has been designing and equipping competition and training pools for over 45 years, will build three pools for the Aquatic Arena Papua, located in the Indonesian province of the same name, which is due to host National Sport Week Papua 2020, an event held every four years featuring athletes from different disciplines drawn from all the provinces in the country.

For this championship, Fluidra will assemble an Olympic swimming and water polo pool, an Olympic diving pool and a warm-up pool to be fitted with a spa. The project entails building the structure with 1.5 meter Skypool panels, filtration and pumping with Praga filters and KIVU pumps, disinfection with Ultraviolet automatic equipment, and competition accessories.

Fluidra will also provide the competition and diving pools in neighboring Malaysia, where the 20th Sukma Games are to be held, an event that will bring together 3,000 athletes, official representatives, and volunteers in 2020.

For this event, the firm, the world leader in the pool and wellness equipment business, will renovate a competition pool and a diving pool.

Fluidra has also been awarded the design and installation of an Olympic pool for the water polo competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games to be held in Lima, Peru. Specifically, Fluidra has designed, supplied, and installed an Olympic pool with the Skypool building system, recently certified by FINA, at the Andrés Avelino Cáceres Sports Complex, located in the southeast of the Peruvian capital.

Fluidra has further been tasked with the filtration, disinfection, and water heating systems, as well as competition accessories for the water polo matches at the event, which will draw around 6,000 sportspeople from the 41 countries on the American continent.

“These projects demonstrate that Fluidra is the benchmark partner for Olympic competitions the world over,” said Fluidra Executive Chairman Eloi Planes, who recalled that the group has engaged in the design, planning, and implementation of multiple facilities for international swimming championships organized by FINA, including Barcelona 2003, Shanghai 2006, Melbourne 2007, and Manchester 2008.
