Shelekhov, Russia

A tribute to the figure of Grigori Shelekhov, a Russian sailor and merchant, a pioneer in the colonization of Russian Alaska.

The body of water of this fountain located in a central square in Shelekhov (Russia) resembles the shape of a light sailboat and is dedicated to the traveler-navigator Grigory Shelikhov, after whom the city is named. Grigory Shelikhov was one of the first settlers of Russian Alaska and a renowned figure in the history of Russia, where different geographical enclaves bear his name. The contours of the figure create jets directed from top to bottom. The dimensions of the boat are 5.8 m x 2.7 m, and the height of the sail is 3.9 m. It is located in the center of an octagonal 11 x 11 m bowl, which is lit at night with beautiful dynamic lighting.
