The renewed Gozo Aquatic Sports Complex features an olympic sized pool by Fluidra
The new Gozo Aquatic Sports Centre will host the new Olympic swimming pool and other state-of-the-art facilities. It will cover 5,800 m2 and will be built adjacent to the Gozo Sports Complex in Victoria. This major project is expected to be completed following a global investment of €10 million. It will include, among others, the olympic swimming pool that can be used for both water polo competitions and other aquatic disciplines, a multi-purpose community pool, a gym covering 500 square metres, multi-purpose sport spaces, as well as ancillary facilities including a first aid room.
Description of Fluidra's scope
Fluidra was commissioned for the realization of a Olympic swimming pool in the Aquatic Sports Complex on the Maltese island of Gozo with a turnkey project scope, which will be used for water polo competitions and other aquatic disciplines. The pool will be 50 m x 25 m in size with a depth of between 2.2 m and 3 m. The system selected for the project is Skypool, which is a technological solution patented by Fluidra consisting of prefabricated hot galvanized steel panels secured to a concrete block which are then covered in PVC-P sheeting. The use of these modular panels and an easy anchoring and assembly system between them, allows an in-ground or above-ground pool to become a reality in record time.
