Fluidra built two temporary pools for the 2022 European Aquatics Championships in Rome.
Fluidra, the global leader in equipment and connected solutions in the pool and wellness sector, was the company responsible for building two temporary pools for the 2022 European Aquatics Championships run by the European Swimming League (LEN) that were held in Rome between 11 and 21 August. The European Aquatics Championships is the continental aquatics championship for Europe, which is organised by LEN (Ligue Européenne de Natation), which is the governing institution for aquatics in Europe. The Championships are currently held every two years; and since 2022, they have included 5 aquatics disciplines: Swimming (long course/50m pool), Diving, Synchronised swimming, Open water swimming and High diving. Prior to 1999, the championships also included Water polo, which beginning in 1999 LEN split-off into a separate championships.Fluidra’s presence at the European Aquatics Championships in Rome falls within the framework of the collaboration agreement signed by Fluidra and LEN in August 2021. This four-year arrangement recognizes Fluidra as an Official Partner for temporary pools and equipment.
    Description of Fluidra's scope
The pools were installed on the iconic Foro Italico. The first one measured 31 x 21 x 3 meters, and was used for the synchronized swimming competitions. The second, sized 17 x 17 x 6 meters, was completely built using Skypool panels, and used for the high diving competition, with boards of 20 and 27 meters high. The two pools, by the brands AstralPool and Zodiac, were prevoiusly built and tested at Inquide’s production plant located in Polinyà (Barcelona). The Skypool panel systems allows an easy and reliable installation with great accuracy complying with FINA requirements, as well as an easy transport and disassembly after the event ended. In addition to building these pools, Fluidra also replaced the filtration system of the Olympic pool that was built in the Foro Italico in 1936. This pool was fitted with an AstralPool filtration system by Fluidra following its latest upgrade. The Astralpool Nefrona: a compact filtration system ensured that all athletes swim in always clean and clear water. This compact monobloc, which can be installed in confined spaces, is modular and easily transportable, ideal both for permanent and temporary pools such as this LEN Championships. The Nefrona system provides excellent levels of water filtration and disinfection allowing the management, through a control panel, of the pump, filter, chemical dosing system and even the water heating.6 filters D2000 for outdoor 50 mt 4 filters D2000 for outdoor dive 3 filters D2350 for the external 33 mt 1 filter D1200 for the suspended 25 mt. 2 D1600 filters are also installed for the outdoor 25mt.Practically all the filters of the Foro Italico Swimming Complex were replaced.
