The CAR in Sant Cugat, a leading high-performance training center for elite Olympic athletes

The Sant Cugat High-Performance Center, also known as CAR Sant Cugat, is a public sports complex located in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona (Spain). This type of sports facility is intended for high-level athletes whose purpose is to improve their sports performance by providing them with the best possible training conditions. The CAR of Sant Cugat was inaugurated in 1987, 5 years before the Barcelona 92 Olympics, with the aim of training and professionalizing elite Spanish athletes. More than a quarter of a century later and 36 medals won by Spanish athletes (21 Olympic and 15 Paralympic), this high-performance sports center has become an international benchmark. Its development and great success has taken place above all in water sports, with synchronized swimming and water polo standing out above all.

Description of Fluidra's scope

Fluidra carried out a major project there by installing a 51.2 x 25 x 3 m competition pool (with a movable wall), a 30 x 21 x 3 m synchronized swimming pool and a 21 x 15 x 5 m diving pool. The water treatment system (filtration, recirculation, disinfection and heating), the air conditioning of the CAR building and the biomechanical control of the pools (cameras, sight glasses, digital podiums, etc.) were also supplied by Fluidra.
