Montjuïc's magic fountain, more impressive and efficient than ever

he Magic Fountain of Montjuïc is a fountain located at the top of Avinguda Maria Cristina in the Montjuïc neighborhood of Barcelona (Spain). The fountain is located below the Palau Nacional on Montjuïc mountain and near Plaça d'Espanya and Poble Espanyol de Barcelona. It is a huge circular fountain renowned for its scheduled shows of water and light choreographed to music that attract over a 2.5 million visitors every year. The fountain, like most of the surrounding developments, was constructed for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition by the architect Carles Buïgas. The fountain sprays 700 gallons of water a second through 3,620 jets to create its effects. The highest waterspout is 170 feet.
